5 Levels
Our program is designed to guide students step-by-step through the fundamentals of improv and sketch comedy, with each level building on the last. Whether you're new to the stage or looking to sharpen your skills, this progression gives you the tools to perform with confidence and creativity.
Level 1: Foundations of Improv
Level 1 introduces the core principles of improvisation in a fun, supportive environment. Through group exercises and games, you will explore spontaneity, active listening, presence, risk-taking, and other foundational skills. Whether you're interested in comedy and acting or simply looking to break out of your comfort zone, this class helps build confidence, encourages creative expression, and reduces self-doubt.
Level 2: Character & Scene Development
Building on the foundations from Level 1, this class offers more individualized feedback and introduces the essential tools for character work, an important component of both improvised scenes and sketches. You will learn to create dynamic characters by exploring internal motivations such as point of view, status, wants, and intentions, along with external elements like physicality and relationships. We will focus on developing a clear point of view in every scene to deepen character choices and strengthen your scenes.

Level 3: Scene Dynamics & Object Work
Level 3 builds on the character work developed in Level 2 and places it within the broader scope of dynamic scenes. You will explore key scene elements such as who/what/where, clear beginnings and middles, platforms, settings, and an introduction into games within a scene and heightening. This level also emphasizes object work and how physical choices can shape and enhance a scene. At the end of the course, you will meet one-on-one with the instructor to assess readiness for Level 4.
Level 4: From Improv to Sketch
Level 4 brings together everything you've learned in the first three levels and applies those skills to generating sketch ideas. This class focuses on identifying different types of sketch scenes, finding the game, and learning how to heighten effectively. You will explore how to develop and express a strong comedic point of view, and how to translate that into structured, dynamic scenes. At the end of the course, you'll meet one-on-one with your instructor to evaluate your readiness for Level 5.

Level 5: Writing & Performing a Sketch Show
Level 5 is a production-focused course where you use the 8-week term to develop and rehearse a fully staged, 1-hour sketch show - also referred to as going through “Process”. Each week, you'll write and workshop original sketches, refining them based on feedback and performance. By the end of the course, you'll have a polished show ready to perform in front of a live audience for a two weekend run!
